Survey Report

Survey Report on Stress
In class we were asked to put together a survey on stress, and then send them out to our class mates and then analyse the results that came back to us. Whilst constructing the survey, I had a good think about the questions that I was putting in the survey and how I can relate to them. I then looked at the website thedesk.com which offers some good surveys and advice on stress and how to deal with stress. This all helped in attaining the information to put together my survey. The information that came back was quite informative and helpful in writing this report. I’ve taken some screen shots to show the results I got back to the questions asked in the survey.
Stress is something that affects many in many different ways, and even though people may not realise there are many ways we can help relieve stress. Day to day life can get hectic with work, study, personal lives, bills, and all sorts of things, for most of us, trying to juggle these things can be a tricky job. Finding time in our hectic lives, to just take a minute to do something we enjoy or find peaceful and harmonious can really make a difference in the way we tackle each hurdle in life.
I found that most people seemed to experience the same kind of symptoms of stress, and similar severities of stress. One thing that stands out to me is that most people find their stress levels affect their relationships, which can create a lot more problems for them. Dealing with stress is so important so that we don’t take it out on those around us, sometimes it is out of our control, but if we can recognise the signs before it gets to that point then this could help a lot. Most of the results from my survey are very similar, most people seem to find themselves moody, with headaches as symptoms, and that the most common cause seems to be from studying or their personal life. Everyday occurrences can create stressful environments and situations for people, we all just need to learn what stresses us out and how we can change this or do something to help it be less stressful on ourselves.
In conclusion, stress is such a common thing that people shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help or time out when they feel things getting too much, everyone will feel the symptoms of stress sometime or another. It can be such a simple thing to fix if we can identify the problem, and have good support around us. Creating this stress survey has certainly made me realise that I am not alone in feeling the symptoms of stress, but after reading through thedesk.com, I have found ways to help me try and fix the way I handle moments of frustration and stress.

23/08/2012- Half way through!!

Coming into class today I certainly felt the stress that we are half way through the term. Although I felt relief knowing today we get to catch up on our Tasks. Im up to date now which is a nice feeling.

I finished up on task 6 which was a interesting one all about the dangers of social networking. I find it really interesting because Im joined up to facebook and I see so much cyber bullying and other sorts of networking issues, so this was a good topic to type about. People take it to a whole other level, with the photos they upload, and statuses they blast about friends or work colleagues, and if theyre in a work or school environment this could cause big problems for them.

I had a bit of a look on thedesk.com and found that pretty helpful, it has some quizzes about stress and how to manage things. Very interesting.

Feeling like I'm learning alot which is great, time is going so fast though.

Until Next Week!

16th of August

This week in class we have looked at putting together a checklist for ourselves to keep us aware of our key performance indicators. These are to help us reach our goals and complete our work at the highest standard. It was great to share what we had put together on one note because then we could update our work if we had forgotten something or wanted to adjust it.
We also took a look at social media and the consequances it can have if we are not careful about out privacy, and how it can be inappropriate in the workplace. It was very informative and showed some good points. Im now up to Task 6 writing about this, I find this quite interesting and look forward to finishing it off.
Until next week!

Week 3

Week 3, 09/08/2012

This week we worked in groups to put together some questions on Microsoft Onenote.
This was the first time i have used this program. I found it very interesting to learn how to use, quite basic, but fun. It was great being able to share all our work together, and help each other out with the questions. Personally i prefer to use the old fashioned note books, using a pen and paper, but for this class I enjoyed using it. It is the same layout as a notebook, but you can see everyone elses work aswell, and add all sorts of pictures and colour to it. There was alot of nifty little things to do with this program.

The second half of the class we worked on our own for tasks 3 and 4. I found these questions to be quite difficult, but I'll get there. Task 3 was about explaining the Spam Act 2003, this is very interesting because so much email spam goes on. Alot of people get hacked, and have their identity stolen or worse! So its good to read about and find out more. Task 4 was answering the questions that as a group we answered, so this was great, we had all the information together and ready to use.

Until next week:)

Week 2

This Week we have gone through the importance of email etiquette. I learnt alot about the importance of punctuation and grammar, and to make sure you dont USE CAPITALS all through out a email because it may come across threatening or they may think your angry. Making sure you dont put anything too personal in a email is important because you never know who may gain access to this information.
In the next part of the class we looked at google calendar, I personally had a bit of trouble with this task as I have not used it before, and things got a little confusing. Although i felt towards the end of class I gained some understanding and it became more clearer. I look forward to having another go at conquering google calendar next week!

Week 1

Blog 26/07/2012

Today was the first class of ‘Communicate Electronically and Organise Personal Workplace Priorities and Development’. We focused on setting up a Gmail account today and how to use it, also about getting to know one another. Today’s class has been easy to follow and something quite simple to start off with rather than jumping straight in the deep end.
Personally I think the Gmail is going to come in handy and I think I’ll be using it for Tafe and possibly work in the future. Setting up a signature for the bottom of my emails makes it seem a lot more formal and professional to me, so therefore I would be happy to send of emails to my lecturer or work colleagues.
Some of it I think is quite similar to Hotmail, so it wasn’t too tricky to work out. I’ve never used Gmail, or even really heard of it before today so I’ve found it interesting to work out.  I like how I can connect the Gmail up to my Hotmail, because I use my Hotmail account every day. Also today I made groups out of my contacts which is something I haven’t done for emails before, so that is going to be handy having everyone I may need to contact all together for this course. I’m really looking forward to learning all about this social networking as obviously so many people use it and I feel I should be up to date with it also.
